Why Santa Fe Chooses Us for Dental Implants
Technology
We use the most modern technology available at our Santa Fe surgical center. For implant placement, we use advanced CT scanners to plan the surgery, and our X-Guide™ system allows us to place implants with extreme precision.
Options
No two patients are the same, and we approach every dental implant case in a unique way. Depending on the case, we are able to anchor implants in the cheek bone instead of the jawbone if the situation requires it.
Superior Materials
We place implants manufactured by industry leaders, including implants from Nobel Biocare®, Straumann®, and Astra®. We believe that using superior materials can provide the highest level of care to every patient and ensure the best possible outcomes.
Same-Day Services
In some cases, such as those involving same-day implants or All-on-4® dentures, implants can be placed and restored in a single appointment. You can experience an immediate restoration of your smile without having to wait until the next scheduled visit.
Financing
Dental implants are rarely covered by dental insurance, though other aspects of care, like your restoration or preparatory treatment, may be covered. Dental implants at our Santa Fe practice start at $2,500. We help patients afford out-of-pocket costs by offering payment plans through CareCredit®.
Experience Expert Care By Oral Surgeons with Backed Training and Credentials
In addition to the training that a dentist receives, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon must complete several more years of education and a surgical residency. Oral surgeons are experts in the mouth and jaw, and have training far beyond the coursework of a general dentist who occasionally places implants.
Dr. Sean M. Healy and Dr. Diego Hurtado are both oral surgeons and active members of several professional organizations, such as the:
- American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
- American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
If your dentist has suggested replacing a tooth with a dental implant, book an appointment with our oral surgeons. We work with many dentists in the Santa Fe, NM, area and also regularly see patients from Española, Taos, Los Alamos, Las Vegas, NM, and beyond.

Reap the Benefits of Dental Implants
Stability
Implants prevent dentures from shifting and slipping, so you can speak with clarity and chew any foods you choose.
Jawbone Retention
The jawbone will shrink and change shape after tooth loss. Implants can stop – and reverse – this effect.
Enhanced Comfort
If lost teeth or loose dentures make you uncomfortable and self-conscious, dental implants can solve those concerns for good.
Lasting Results
While your restoration will eventually need to be replaced in 10-15 years, dental implants are made with durable materials like zirconia. They are designed to last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance, meaning the time and money put into implants now will support a strong, healthy smile for decades.
A Valuable Investment in Your Oral Health
The average cost of dental implant treatment can range from $2,500 to $4,000, but it varies from case to case depending on a number of factors, including:
- Number of teeth missing
- Implant material and type
- Type of crown, bridge, or denture
- Related procedures such as tooth extractions, bone grafts, etc.
While many insurance plans will contribute to the cost of aspects of implant treatment (such as the denture or crown), insurance rarely covers the cost of the implants themselves. Our Santa Fe practice offers financing through CareCredit® to help you afford this life-changing treatment.
The best way to get an accurate cost estimate is to visit our oral surgeons for a consultation. Once they develop a custom treatment plan, we can provide you with a quote so you can plan and budget.

It was nothing like I've ever experienced, but I think Dr.Hurtado made all the difference. He was quick, precise, and kept making sure I was okay the entire time. It went by so fast, and I was relieved that part was behind me. Everything seems to be healing well. However, I think it reflects the clean work and great job from Dr.Hurtado. The dental assistant also called me the next day to check on me, which I appreciated. She was also fantastic and very caring. She also made my experience a good one. Thank you, Dr. Hurtado and staff!! I felt very safe and comfortable with you guys, and I highly recommend your office to anyone who needs extractions.

Dr. Emilio Diego is a fantastic Oral Surgeon, and is very easy to speak, as well. My case is a bit odd, in that I have a limited mouth opening due to TMJ, and had extremely deep tooth roots. He performed my surgery in two visits, with healing time allowed after each one. He also does very thorough follow-up visits, and provides all the information you need, and some you just want, in an understandable way. I highly recommend him!

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants in Santa Fe
Does implant placement hurt?
No. You will be thoroughly numbed before your procedure begins. We also offer sedation options to ensure you are completely comfortable. Some discomfort is to be expected as you heal, but if you follow your oral surgeon's instructions, take medications as directed, stick to a soft diet, and use ice packs, your healing period can go much more easily.
I have jawbone loss. Can you help?
Yes! During your initial consultation, your oral surgeons will consider the amount of bone material the implants have to graft to. In some cases, preparatory bone grafting may be required. In other cases, other forms of dental implants such as All-on-4® or Zygomatic implants may be able to help you without the need for preparatory bone grafting.
